CLARITY OF VISION (EXODUS 24:3-18)

The Israelites agreed to follow God’s instructions as had been delivered to them by Moses.

REFLECTION

Clarity of vision is the theme for our reflection this morning. Clarity of vision is knowing what a person or group of people want the future to look like and what steps need to be taken to get there. The Israelites were determined to deepen their relationship with God and have a successful future after Moses had delivered to them a series of laws God expects the Israelites to abide by. To show their clarity of vision Exodus 24:3-4 tells  us that “When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the Lord has said we will do.” Moses then wrote down everything the Lord had said.”

What is your calling and vision as a believer? As a nation, a family and a community of faith (Church), what is our vision? To have clarity of vision, God must be at the center of all human affairs. It is for this reason Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:33 that “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”

A person or a community without clarity of vision is already on the path of failure and retrogression. Without our willingness as individuals, a church or a nation to establish a relationship with God, honor and follow His direction for our lives, the future will be uncertain and clouded with hopelessness. Proverb 3:5-8 makes it abundantly clear that “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” In other words, the Lord will grant us success in an unpredictable and unknown future if He is at the heart of our future aspirations and vision. My dear friend, to have a clarity of vision we must be willing to trust and obey God and lean not on our own understanding. Again we must totally rely on Him and through prayer and faith, walk  with the Lord. The History of Israel teaches us that any time the Israelites break away from God by disobeying Him they become insecure and are easily overcomed by their enemies but when they follow the commandment of God and have a clarity of vision that God is their only hope, strength and source of prosperity, they experience the peace and the glory of God.  May the Lord be the foundation of that  which forms your clarity of vision. Shalom

PRAYER

GRACIOUS GOD, LEAD US TO ALWAYS HAVE A CLARITY OF VISION CENTERED ON YOUR WORD AND YOUR DIRECTION FOR OUR LIVES. MAY OUR FUTURE ASPIRATIONS AND DECISIONS BE GUIDED BY YOUR WILL FOR US AS INDIVIDUALS,  AS A NATION AND AS A CHURCH. AMEN
