The Lord reigns.

REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is light dawns. Light dawns is an expression that describes a situation where a person suddenly understands something he or she had not understood before. Today is Epiphany in the Christian calendar. Epiphany means manifestation or revelation. The significance of Epiphany is found in the revelation of Christ to the gentiles through His incarnation or birth. The gentiles were represented by the Kings(Magi) or wise men from the East who had the revelation of the birth of the Saviour of the world through the shining star and came to worship Him. In other words, light dawned upon them and they came to honour the King of Kings. Light dawned on them and they gained a new understanding becuase of the revelation or manifestation of Christ.

The Psalmist in Psalm 97 observed that when light dawns on those who are lost or are in darkness, they experience the glory and reign of the Lord. “The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!” (Psalm 97:6-7). Indeed, without the revelation or manifestation of Christ in our lives, we will remain slaves to sin and eventually die in sin. Some of us were slaves to drunkenness, sexual immorality, corruption, idol worship, and all manner of unwholesome addictions. Light dawned on us and like the wise men who saw the star and were led to Jesus, we, who hitherto have been in the world have also experience the manifestation of Jesus in our lives through the power of the Gospel and the grace of God, “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We are now beneficiaries of Jesus’s grace and salvation through His revelation or manifestation in our lives. My dear friend, share Jesus with others today because light dawns upon anyone who experiences Jesus and his or her life will never remain the same. Happy Epiphany. Shalom.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, help us to spread the Gospel so that our brothers and sisters who are still behind the wall of salvation will experience your light, redemption and reign over their lives. Amen.
