Be a child of the light.
REFLECTION
Walk in the light is theme for our reflection. To walk in the light means to live in Christ. Jesus teaches His audience that without Him, a person cannot become a child of God hence he or she will continue to live in darkness. Such a person will be likened to a person who is in darkness and does not know where he or she is going. (John 12:35)
Jesus might have made reference to His short earthly ministry when He said that “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” (John 12:35-36). We must note that Jesus only departed physically from earth to return again but He continued to be present in the life of believers through the Holy Spirit, for He assures us in Matthew 28:19-20 that “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” It is rather important to note that our time on earth is very limited therefore we must walk in the light before our time of death or departure comes. Even as you read this reflection someone is being hauled to the mortuary. There is one thing that is certain, we shall no longer see the light of the sun when we die but we shall forever see the light of the Son of God when we walk in Him hence “…if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. (Romans 14:8). My dear friend, choose Jesus and walk in the light for He is our salvation. Shalom.
PRAYER
Merciful God, strengthen us to walk in your Jesus our Light and “… teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Amen (Psalm 90:12)
