Paul narrates his conversion to King Agrippa.
REFLECTION
Blinded by the Light is the theme for our reflection. If you are a driver who often drives in the night you would realise that it is possible to be blinded by an oncoming vehicle with a brighter light. Paul had thought he was in the light but the day he decided to go to Damascus to persecute God’s people or fight against Christ, he had an encounter with Jesus and confessed that “…I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, that shone around me and those who journeyed with me.” (Acts 26:13).
My dear friend in the Lord, like Paul, many of us had the worldy and impure light of ignorance, arrogance and sin in our lives but upon meeting Jesus Christ, the true light, we became blinded by His light and now we have the spiritual sight to serve and live for His glory. Again, we are blinded by the light of Jesus because “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (JOHN 1:4-5). When we are blind or lack the light of Christ in our lives, sin and satan has dominion over us. We are greatly and equally encouraged by Paul’s conversion and salvation, in that, Jesus is telling us that “I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom I am sending you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”(Acts 26:16-18).
We those who have been blinded by the Light of Christ have a divine mandate to radiate His light unto those who are in the darkness of sin and are under the power of Satan. The world may perceive us to be blind because we do not follow the desires and pleasures of the world. Dear friend, it is better to be blinded by the Light of Jesus than to remain in the ignorant, ephemeral, destructive and impure light of the world which eventually leads a person into eternal darkness. Shalom.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, continue to be the only Light we ever see and radiate in our lives. May your light continue to blind the lost that they may see and experience your salvation. Amen.
