REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is children of the Light. What makes us children of the Light? Our relationship with Jesus as Lord and Saviour makes us children of the light. (Ephesians 5:8)

The most important characteristic of children of the light is that they “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). My dear friend are you truly a child of the light? Do you hate evil and will at all cost expose injustice and evil wherever you find yourself without fear or favour? As children of the light we must not be selective in exposing unfruitful works of darkness. We must be consistent in being children of the light. For this reason Paul adominishes us that “the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true, and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:9-10). In other words, being children of the Light must be a way of life dedicated to pleasing God in everything we do as believers. It must be a life of holiness and integrity to glorify God. We must stand out and shine for Jesus regardless of the oppositions, persecution and obstacles that may come from the children of darkness. Shalom.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, empower us to live as children of the light to glorify God and to expose and extinguish the power of darkness wherever we find ourselves. Amen.
