REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is the power of a storm. A storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds usually accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning, snow or hail. It should be noted that the storm that hit Egypt in a form of a plague was accompanied by a hail. A hail is balls or pieces of ice falling as precipitation or like rain, often in connection with a thunderstorm. Ice balls or pieces of ice are heavier than rain droplets therefore could cause destruction to property and injury to people and animals. “The hail struck down everything that was in the field in all the land of Egypt, both man and beast. And the hail struck down every plant of the field and broke every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel were, was there no hail. Then Pharaoh sent and called Moses and Aaron and said to them, “This time I have sinned; the LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.Plead with the LORD, for there has been enough of God’s thunder and hail. I will let you go and you shall stay no longer”‘ (Exodus 9:25-28).

My dear friend in the Lord, the stubbornness or disobedience of Pharaoh made Him and His nation Egypt to incur the wrath of God which manifested in the power of a storm. We are to understand that no one can contend with God. He is the Lord of the storm and the storm will serve Him anytime accompanied with hail that may cause great injury and destruction. Like Pharaoh we are being called upon to reconsider and repent our sinful and oppressive ways towards others. God hates oppression and may decend on us if we refuse to repent with the power of His storm. The hail storm may be in the form hardships that may hit us hard. Becareful you don’t become a Pharaoh in the life of others else the hail storm is just be around the corner. Shalom.

PRAYER

Almighty God, empower us to be agents of liberation and not oppression so that we will not incur the power of your stormy wrath. Amen
