REFLECTION
“Water, water everywhere…” is theme for our reflection. Water is one of the most important resources needed for human, animal and plant survival. It is the desire for all living things to have water available and accessible everywhere.
Isaiah had a series of prophesies against the enemies of Israel, for Egypt, he prophesied that the Nile which is their major source of water supply and resource will dry up and all who depend on the Nile for livelihood will be adversely affected. (Isaiah 19:7-9). Isaiah’s prophecy against Egypt presents to us how human sin against God can affect their environment and natural resources.
Some important water bodies in Africa are being destroyed because of illegal mining practices in and around those water resources. We pray and yearn for water everywhere yet the activities of some people destroy our water bodies which consequently render our water bodies poisonous to aquatic life, wild life and human beings. Presently, it our human activities that is threatening and making our water resources to become scarce and unsafe in the world. Let us be each other’s keeper by protecting our water resources thereby ensuring that there will be water everywhere for human, animal and plant survival. Let us fight against and stop galamsey (illegal mining) and other practices that destroy our water bodies now! It is not only a civic responsibility but a stewardship role for which God will hold us accountable. Shalom
PRAYER
Almighty God, help us to be the good stewards of our water resources so that we shall have abundance of water for our mutual survival. Amen.
