REFLECTION
Kisses of His mouth is the reflection for our Valentine’s day. Val’s day a is day set aside to celebrate and show love to one another. The focus of this reflection is on the romantic love of married couples. A kiss is the touch or caress with the lips as a sign of love, sexual desire, or greeting.
Unlike the Western and European culture, kisses are not a public feature of African couples life neither do parent nurture their children to practice or understand the values of a kiss. The only place you may find couples kiss is at wedding ceremonies. Thankfully with globalization and modern trends, most 21st century couples have come to understand the importance of romance and kisses in their marital relationship. Kissing is not a taboo or sin for couples, it is non sexual sign of love and affection. The bride in Solomon’s song invites her groom “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine;” (Songs of Solomon 1:1)
Sex is not the only way or manner to express love and affection in marriage, daily doses of kisses or frequent show of love through kisses is recommended for couples to ignite and sustain joy, romantic exuberance and deep affection in their relationship. When was the last time you held and kissed your husband or wife? Sex may come to an end when the body is weak or incapacitated but kisses will linger on so long as the mouth exists. Today is Valetine’s day, let your kiss be the first gift to your spouse. It is free, it takes no effort but most enjoyable than all other edible or consumable gifts because it is spiced with the ingredients of love. A kiss a day, refuels the engine of romance. Christian husband and wife must understand that being romantic through kisses is part of our Scriptural admonishment.
PRAYER
Loving God, enables us to understand love and express it with the gift of kisses in our marital relationship and may we continually greet one another with holy and romantic kisses. Amen.
