REFLECTION

The son of Adam, the son of God is the theme for our reflection. A genealogy is a line of descent traced continuously from an ancestor. The genealogy of Jesus is listed to prove that although He is divine, He is also human.

It is interesting to note that two persons in the genealogy came to being through God’s direct creation and impact but the rest came to being through normal human conception which is the natural order created by God. Although Adam’s sin tarnished God’s plan for humanity, Jesus’s birth made perfect God’s plan for humanity thus, “For if, because of one man’s trespass(Adam), death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” (Roman 5:17) In other words Jesus does not come from a righteousness or a Holy genealogy but His birth has sanctified His genealogy and generations to come after Him who will believe in Him as Lord and Saviour.

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.”(1 Timothy 2:5-6) Dear friend, no matter your family history and genealogy, Jesus is able to save you and your generation through faith because He is our only true High Priest and Mediator.

PRAYER

Gracious Lord, we are grateful for saving us from an sinful generation. May we hold unto our salvation and be a blessing to our posterity through our Lord Jesus Christ.
