LENT REFLECTIONS (DAY 9)
Friends with God is the theme for our reflection. A friend is a person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection and trust. Friend with God means having a mutual affection and trust in God.
Unlike human friends who are sometimes unpredictable, unreliable and may not necessarily help us out of genuine intentions as seen in the scenario given by Jesus in Luke 11:5-8, the implication of being friends with God is that “… ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Luke 11:9-10). Lent season offers us the opportunity to get closer to our only true and dependable friend, God. We must repent, live a life pleasing to Him to maintain the bond of friendship between us and God so that unlike Adam and Eve we shall not run away nor hide from God but will remain under His love and divine providence. Shalom.
PRAYER
God our true friend and companion help us to remain faithful in our relationship with you. Amen.
