LENT REFLECTIONS (DAY 32)

On the threshold is the theme for our reflection. On the threshold means the place or point of entering or beginning. God appointed Johsua and gave him instructions on the threshold of the promised land.

On the threshold may also signify a new beginning in a person’s life. The most important lesson God desired Joshua to carry to the Israelites and consequently lead them to enter the promised land with Him and follow His commandment so that it may be well with them. “Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:7-8). In other words, do not forget who you are and your past when the Lord leads you to the threshold of success and prosperity. Live your life like a faithful and God-fearing farmer, remain faithful to God during the planting stage, be faithful to Him during the nurturing stage and most importantly remain faithful to Him during the harvesting stage for “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:35)

When we get to the threshold of success and abundance, let us not be the like rich man who had a successful and bountiful harvest but failed to a acknowledge God as the sustainer and source of his blessings. He rather said to himself, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:19-21). Dear friend, always remember God and hold onto His Word faithfully on the threshold of successes and achievements in life for Psalm 103:2-5 reminds us that “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Shalom.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit strengthen me to remain faithful to the Lord and be obedient His Word so that His glory may never depart from me on the threshold of prosperity and success. Amen
