EASTER MONDAY REFLECTION

He is not here is the theme for our reflection. “He is not here” is the answer the Angels gave to the women who found the empty tomb of the Lord Jesus. “And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” And they remembered his words, (Luke 24:5-7)

These women experienced the resurrection power of the Lord because even in His death they continued to serve Him. It took Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James and the other women to defy all odds to anoint the body of Jesus with spices and ointment. “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” (Luke 24:1-3) The question is, how come these women were not accompanied by any of the disciples? The eleven disciples had lived their lives with Christ, therefore, it was expected that at least one of them will accompany the women to the tomb. It was obvious they were still traumatized and were in hiding. Although the women were also traumatised, they were bold and went to extra mile.

These women will remain the first people to have witnessed the resurrection power of Jesus because they were determined to go the extra mile to serve Him by anointing His mortal remains. Dear friend, the Lord reveals the power of His glory to those who yearn to serve Him even in times when it is challenging to do so. These women could have given an excuse and remained in their homes but the love Jesus showed them when He was alive was so overwhelming that their faithfulness to Him compelled them to serve Him even at early dawn when it was dark and unsafe to do so.

Beloved in the Lord, are you willing to go out of your comfort zone to serve the Lord or are you willing to serve the Lord even when it is uncomfortable to do so? There is great reward in serving the Lord faithfully. May the Lord reveal His glory to you even as you continue to go the extra mile to serve Him. May the Lord resurrect you from your sickness, challenges or anything preventing you from going the extra mile to serve Him through His resurrection power. Remain determined and focused regardless of the obstacles in life and serve Him with all your time, heart, mind and might. May you will continually experience His grace and glory. Shalom.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, strengthen us to give all our best to the service of our Lord and Saviour and may we continue to experience His glory through the resurrection power. Amen.
