REFLECTION

Your kingdom come is the theme for our reflection. The Kingdom of God refers to the reign of God over the universe. The kingdom of God is seen or understood from two perspectives. Firstly, we believe we are already experiencing the Kingdom of God because God reigns over our lives and indeed the entire universe. Secondly, we believe that when Jesus returns the second and final time, we shall experience the full glory of the reign of God where a new heaven and a new earth will be created. It is this Kingdom every faithful believer and disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ yearns and lives for.

The role of every living creature under the reign of God on earth or while anticipating the final appearing of the full glory of God is to glorify or honour God through a life of praise. God created us for His glory both in this world and in His heavenly Kingdom, for this reason the psalmist wrote that “Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! ” (Psalm 150:1-2).

Dear friend, if you have life then you are an instrument of praise. You may not have anything to offer the Lord but it pleases the Lord if human beings who are made in His image and likeness, acknowledge His glory and mighty works through a life of praise. As we pray and yearn for the Kingdom of God to come, we must be prepared to join the heavenly hosts to praise the Lord. In the meantime, as long as we have life we must prove to the Lord that we are worthy instruments of His praise, “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!” (Psalm 150:6). In other words, the only reason for praising God is that you are alive, it matters not whether you are in good health or sick, rich or poor, happy or sad, so long as you have life, you must give glory to God and praise Him. When Job lost everything, He said ““Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21). If you have life then prove your worthiness to praise the Lord. Shalom.

PRAYER

Almighty God, we dedicate our life as instruments of your praise even as we we experience your reign on earth while anticipating the coming of your Kingdom. Amen.
