REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is God’s chosen at the throne. The book of Revelation employes metaphysical imagery in revealing God’s future plans for humanity. John who had these Revelation did use human intellect to describe the scenes God revealed to him.
In Revelation chapter 4, the focus is on description of some heavenly beings and some living creatures not in the form of human beings and their role of worshipping the name of the Lord. These living creatures together with the twenty-four elders worshipped the Lord endlessly. “And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4:8-11)
The key lesson for our reflection is that, Heaven is not an empty space where God worships Himself, before human beings were created there were God’s chosen at His throne whose satisfaction and joy is to worship God. God owes us nothing but we owe Him everything including our very lives therefore it is our duty to continually worship Him on earth and prepare in faith to worship as His chosen ones. Our salvation in Christ is the gracious privilege to share in the glory of God as His chosen ones on earth who will eventually join God’s chosen one at the throne to continually worship God in His full splendor and glory. Let us not miss this everlasting honour and opportunity when Jesus returns the second and final time. Dear friend worship God in all sincerity while you are alive on earth. Love and serve Him with all your heart, mind and might and glorify Him with your life as a living sacrifice, for the chosen of the Lord must appear before Him in faithfulness and holiness. Shalom.
PRAYER
Merciful Lord, may You find us worthy to be part of the chosen ones at Your throne so that together we shall endlessly bow before Your throne in worship and glorify Your Holy name. Amen.
