REFLECTION
Quenching thirst with the water of life is the theme for our reflection. John receives a revelation concerning the salvation of the Jews and “… a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10)
It is important to note that just as the body thirsts for water, our spirits also thirst for the water of life. The water of life is Jesus Christ who is our salvation. He assured us in John 4:13-14 that “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” it is for this reason it was revealed to John that “For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:17)
Dear friend in the Lord, without Christ in our lives, our righteousness and salvation are incomplete. Jesus assures us in Matthew 5:6 that “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” For Jesus to become our righteousness and water of life that quenches our spiritual thirst eternally, we must make a conscious and deliberate decision or effort to invite Him into our lives and have a deeper relationship with Him. Jesus says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20). Jesus does not only eat with us but He quenches our thirst with the water of eternal life. Jesus Christ our water of life is available to all who are ready to repent, be baptised and make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. Once Jesus lives and reigns in our lives, we shall thirst no more, our spirits shall experience satisfaction and “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding…” (Philippians 4:7) Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, we hunger and thirst after your righteousness and salvation in a carnal world, may you quench our thirst with your water of life. Amen.
