REFLECTION

The burning of the earth is theme for our reflection. Revelation 8 presents to us a the destruction of the earth by fire through the blowing of seven trumpets by seven Angels. Anytime one blows the trumpet something catastrophic happens to the earth and its inhabitants.

Is it not interesting how God uses seven days to create the world according to Genesis 1-2:3 then according to Revelation 8 He uses the sounding of seven trumpets to systematically destroy it with fire? Jesus had already assured us in Matthew 24:35 that “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” The good and refreshing news is that before the burning of the earth would take place a prayer of salvation is offered for the saints. (Revelation 8:3-4) Dear friend, seek salvation in Jesus Christ through faith so that by His grace you will be counted among the saints when the time of our existence on earth expires. When God destroyed the earth in the time of Noah in Genesis 7, He used water but in Revelation 8 we understand that even the water bodies and its inhabitat will be consumed by the fire that will come at the sound of the trumpets. Nothing on earth is spared!

The burning of the earth should not be a cause for concern to those who are living by faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The burning of the earth in Revelation 8 must be understood as warning for all to prepare for the day of the Lord. Let us live as saints who await their redemption into the promised land of peace and eternal joy. Shalom

PRAYER

Merciful Lord, before the burning of the earth takes place, let the Good News reach all the corners of the earth and may those who accept your salvation be counted as your saints and be redeemed by your grace through their faith in you. Amen.
