REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is eternal life. Eternal life is the glorious life after death guaranteed for all who die in our Lord Jesus Christ. John in Revelation 12 makes us understand that eternal life does not come on a silver platter. Satan who is given the imagery of the dragon had been defeated and cast down unto earth. His mission is to accuse  or cause many to miss the path of eternal life by continually fight against the children of God until their final redemption of the Lord Jesus Christ. “I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” (Revelation 12:10-12). In the book of Job we see the manner in which Satan accused Job of unfaithfulness and went ahead to fight him just to cuase Job to sin against God but Job remained faithful and resilient till the end.

No matter the wrath of Satan and his schemes to prevent many from attaining eternal life, Jesus Christ has already given us victory and power through His sacrifice on the cross and the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome Satan. Paul, therefore admonishes us to “…, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” (Ephesians 6:10-13).

Dear friend, we are already on the battlefield  in the world, Satan has launched his attack through a number of ways. Satan is using any mean possible to prevent many from attaining eternal life. Satan is using materialism, sexual immorality, obsession with fame and power, nudity and pornography on social media, corruption, addictions and the like to cuase many to miss the way to eternal life through our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. Let us watch and pray and study the Scripture to enable us know the will of God and to overcome the weapons and temptations of the evil one. Shalom

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, strengthen and equip us in the battlefield to overcome any temptation and schemes of Satan calculated against our attainment of the Eternal life. Amen.
