REFLECTION
Babylon the great is grounded is the theme for our reflection. Grounded means punished. Babylon was a world super power that practiced paganism and once held God’s people Isreal captive. Babylon has become the symbolism for idol worship, prostitution and any system that stood against God’s servants. In Revelation 17 a woman is likened to Babylon who will lead many astray and persecute God’s people but at end it will be punished. “They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. (Revelation 17:17)
The assurance we have as believers is that sexual immorality and other evils or sin will increase which will be spearheaded by the Babylon of our time. The Babylon of our time will be the new world order made of governments who will support sin and persecute believers who preach Christ, it will be a great time of distress for the faithful believers “They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.” (Revelations 17:14). In other words, Babylon will surely be grounded therefore let us chosen and faithful of God persevere to the end. We need to draw strength from God through hope, prayer, knowledge of His Word and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. The tribulation will not last, Babylon will be grounded when our Lord and Saviour returns the second time. Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Lord give us the spirit of endurance to persevere in the Babylonian era of sin, abormination and persecution of Your chosen and faithful ones. Give us victory by grounding Babylon and lead us into the new Jerusalem made for Your faithful servants. Amen
