REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is God sits. The psalmist praises God because He is the King over all the Earth who sits on His throne. “Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. (Psalms 47:6-8)

Dear friend in the Lord, there is great hope and encouragement for us because God sits on His throne as the King who has power over the affairs of human beings. Knowing He sits on the throne makes us fearless even as we face the challenges of life. If the going gets tough and we become overwhelmed, let us remember that we have a dependable God who sits on the throne, for this reason Paul greatly encourages us to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7).

We must learn to live a life of praise to glorify our God who sits on the throne. One of the ways of demonstrating our faith in God is prayer as pointed out by Paul, another way of demonstrating our faith and hope in God, our King is to praise His name through singing, speech and even in non-verbal ways. When we give praise to God who sits on the throne we experience His presence in our lives through miracles and wonders. “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened. (Acts 16:25-26). Beloved in the Lord, the Lord who sits on the throne is our anchor, no wonder Priscilla Jane Owens wrote the song entitled “we have an Anchor”

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
when the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

Refrain:
We have an anchor that keeps the soul
steadfast and sure while the billows roll;
fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love!

Our God who sits on the throne is worth our praise because our lives are in His hands. Shalom.

PRAYER

Almighty God, I am fearless, strong and safe because you sit on the throne. “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you:” Amen (Psalms 22:22)
