REFLECTION

God looks with love is the theme for our reflection. The Psalmist in Psalm 33 gives thanks to the Lord, praises the Lord for His awesomeness in creation, he admonishes all to fear the Lord and worship Him because human efforts and achievement is fruitless without His steadfast love, for, “…the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine” (Psalm 33:18).

Dear friend there is a special or unique love relationship between God and a God-fearing and faithful believer. The love of God sustains, encourages, comforts and gives hope to the believer. When we experience the love of God, we feel safe or protected in His in arms or presence, it is for this reason the Psalmist wrote that “Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” (Psalm 33:20-22). We cannot experience the steadfast love of God if we allow sin to rule as and we trust in our own abilities instead of trusting in Him. Like the prodigal son, we cannot be beneficiaries of His steadfast love if we reject Him and move away from His love and protection. Again, like the prodigal son in Luke 15, we must always reflect on our relationship with God and if we discover that we have been wayward, disobedient or are lost we must immediately pray that “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son (or daughter).’ (Luke 15:22). This prayer or declaration shows that we eagerly and earnestly seek the face of God to look with love upon us and not with wrath and judgement. Through God’s love we who are dead and are revived and we who were lost are found. (Luke 15:32). What is the current status of your relationship with God? Are you a beneficiary of His steadfast love through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ or you are far away in the wilderness of sin and disobedience? The choice is yours to make. Shalom.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, without your steadfast love we shall remain dead and lost in sin, we are forever grateful to You that You continue look upon us with love and therefore gave your only begotten Son as a ransom for our transgressions. Strengthen us to ramain faithful to your steadfast love by dedicating our lives to your service and glory. Amen
