Trust the process is the theme for our reflection. “Trust the process” means things may look bad now, but God has a plan in place to make it better. The Psalmist in Psalm 22:1-15 felt forsaken by God because he prayed for God’s intervention or deliverance yet he kept on experiencing humiliation and intimidation from his enemies. In the midst of his anxiety and humiliation, the Psalmist still remembered that “In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them. To you they cried and were rescued; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.” (Psalm 22:4-5)

It is important to understand that Christians or believers are not immune to suffering and humiliation. Indeed it is part of our discipleship, there are times people will mock at us because of our faith in God, the Psalmist was also mocked at with these words “He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!” (Psalm 22:8). The most frustrating moment of your life is when you need your prayers answered urgently but your precarious situation lingers on and it feels like God is not even listening. Jesus felt the same way on the cross when He said “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:26) but at the end He still trusted His Father and said “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” (Luke 23:46). Jesus knew the Father had a plan therefore even in suffering, humiliation and the feeling of rejection, He still trusted the Father and entrusted His Spirit into His hands.  “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11) Dear friend, the frustrations and suffering you may encounter in life will sometimes  physically and emotionally be unbearable but remember our Lord Jesus’s example and trust the process because God is the architect of our lives and He has the blueprint of our destiny in His hands. Shalom.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit strengthen us to trust the process God is taking us through even if we do not currently see hope at the end of the tunnel. Amen.
