REFLECTION
Words of life is the theme for our reflection. Words of life are the teachings of Christ that guides us in our daily walk and relationship with God. Obeying the Words of Life will enable us to fulfill God’s will and have His will done in our lives. Jesus in His teaching highlights three important facts which we ought to hold unto even as we prepare for the eternal life or the Kingdom of God. These facts are:
- God is our salvation and refuge, therefore, we must have faith in God and be persistent in prayer about our needs and challenges in life. Jesus assured us that “… will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:7-8)
- God justifies the humble and repentant sinner for Jesus admonishes us that “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 18:14)
- Jesus expects obedience to His Word like children. Children are accustomed to obeying instructions from their parents, teachers and guardians and this goes with a reward or a blessing. Similarly Jesus assures us that “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
In summary the teachings of Christ are Words of life and these Words teach us to have faith in God and be persistent prayer, to be humble and obedient to God. May these Words of life bear fruit in us for us to be found worthy of the Kingdom of God. Shalom.
