REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is kindness returned. In 2 kings 4:8-17, we learnt that the Shunamite woman was kind to the Prophet Elisha, in 2 Kings 4:18-37, Elisha now returns the kindness. Truly, one good turn deserves another. The woman was initially kind to the man of God and when her son died, the man of God was kind to her by interceding for her son to be brought back to life. (2 Kings 4:32-37).
Dear friend, one of the greatest investments in life is building resourceful relationships through the act of kindness. Had the Shunamite woman refused to be kind to the Prophet Elisha, could she have boldly gone to him for help? When her son died, she knew exactly who to contact for help because had developed a relationship with the person (Propet Elisha) through her act of kindness. “she called to her husband and said, “Send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, that I may quickly go to the man of God and come back again.” And he said, “Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath.” She said, “All is well.” Then she saddled the donkey, and she said to her servant, “Urge the animal on; do not slacken the pace for me unless I tell you.” So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. 2 Kings 4:22-25. What kind of relationship are you investing in today and what sort of dividends will it yield for you soon? In Genesis 18:1-19, Abraham was kind and hospitable to some strangers who were passing by his tent and it later turn out that these were Angels who brought him and his wife Sarah the good news of having their own son a year later. Let us be kind to the people we meet on our way today for they may be the Angels God will send to us in our time of trouble. Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, may our act of kindness lead us to encounter or experience miracles. Amen.
