REFLECTION
Gold Sash and white hair is the theme for our reflection. John described his vision of Christ. “I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. (Revelation 1:12-14) A sash is a long piece of cloth worn over the shoulder and chest as a sign of honour and prestigious status, and white hair is a sign of wisdom, distinction and nobility. The gold sash and white hair revealed to John the glory of Jesus Christ as the Prince and Son of God through whom God created the world and will come again to judge it. In other words, Jesus who died and resurrected and was taken up to Heaven was now revealed to John in a vision as the royal Prince and the Head of the Church universal.
When we encounter the glory of God, we must immediately acknowledge our mortality and unworthiness with fear and trembling before Him, It is for this reason, John wrote that “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. (Revelation 1:17-19). Dear friend, John’s vision of Jesus reminds and assures us that we are connected to royalty and eternity therefore we must continue to be faithful to God even as we await the actual day of the Lord where the whole world will witness His glory as the King of Kings and Judge of the Universe. Jesus has assured us through John’s vision not to fear as believers and as a Church but to be rest assured He will come again to save those who believe Him and are living for His glory. He will grant us eternal life because He lives forever and ever and holds the keys to death and hades. Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Lord may the gold sash and white hair in John’s vision remind us that we are royals and dignitaries of the Heavenly King. May your glory give the church and believers in the world hope and assurance to endure tribulations and persecution as we await your salvation. Amen.
