NBNB ADVENT REFLECTION

Carrying the tabernacle is the theme for today’s reflection. God gives strict instructions concerning the persons to enter the tabernacle and the specific roles they must play.  In carrying the tabernacle each one has a role to perform, these roles were so strict. For instance “… when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, as the camp sets out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry these, but they must not touch the holy things, lest they die. These are the things of the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.” (Numbers 4:15).

Dear friend, the place of worship and articles consecrated for worship are sacred. It is for this reason special persons are ordained to carry those articles and  while leading or officiating worship services. Those who lead worship services and touch consecrated articles of the Lord must always ensure that they come before the Lord ceremonially clean and morally upright before the Lord. We must treat preaching gowns, choir robes, table covering, Communion elements and other things used for worship as sacred articles consecrated onto the Lord.  It is interesting to note that in 21st Century some Christians treat the worship space or Chapel as an ordinary social events center. Some people without the fear of the Lord chew gum and affix them beneath the consecrated pews. Others litter the Chapel during worship services Some Christians wear the Choir robes in bitterness while quarreling and gossiping. We must understand that our Chapels are the consecrated tabernacle of the Lord, therefore, we must appear before the Lord in holiness ever ready to serve Him in whichever ministry He assigns to us. Shalom.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, strengthen us to avail ourselves in total humility and holiness even as we discharge our responsibility in the Church. Amen
