REFLECTION

“The work of Christmas begins…” is the theme for our reflection. The work of Christmas begins… points to the fact that Jesus commences His earthly ministry or fulfilment of the reason for His birth. He came to save the world from sin and eternal death. He summerised His work in the world in the words of Prophet Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (Luke 4:18-19).

Dear friend, to be a beneficiary of the work of Christmas, we must accept the fact that sin has made us poor in spirit, our carnal mindedness has made us blind morally therefore satan has held us captives and we ought to be liberated and have recovery of our spiritual sight to live according to the will of God by repenting and accepting Jesus as your Lord and saviour. It is through repentance and following the perfect examples of Christ that will make us experience the Lord’s favour or grace. Without the work of Christmas, there is no salvation. In other words, without the birth of Christ we shall remain in our spiritual poverty, moral blindness and under the captivity of Satan but glory be to God that “… if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. (2 Corinthians 5:17-19) Beloved in the Lord, let us embrace the priceless gift of salvation given to us through the Christmas event, Jesus assures us that “…the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10), again, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). The work of Christmas has already been done, the choice is yours to make today. May the Holy Spirit guide and lead us to live a life of repentance, faith and regeneration through the work of Christmas. Shalom.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming into this world to liberate us from sin and making us Your own, may we continually be guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live a life worthy of our calling as a people saved and sent to preach Christmas Gospel for the spiritual enrichment, recovery of sight and liberation of those who are still behind the walls of salvation. Amen.
