THE WILL OF THE FATHER (JOHN 6:35-40) LENT DAY 14
REFLECTION
The will of the Father is the theme for our reflection. The will of the Father is the decision and the act of God to save us through Jesus Christ, His son. In other words, our salvation or redemption through Jesus Christ is the will of the Father. It is for this reason, Jesus revealed to us that “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:38-40).
Beloved in the Lord, it is impossible to do the will of the Father without accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. The will of the Father is made complete through His son Jesus Christ. John 3:16-17 summarises the truth that the will of the Father is made complete in our lives through Jesus when John wrote that“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” The Lent season offers us another opportunity to do the will of the Father by surrendering our lives completely to Jesus through repentance and faith so that through Him we shall become the children of God. Again, Paul reminds us of the will of the Father through His letter to the Galatians when he wrote that “… in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27) May the will of the Father be done in our lives in this lent season and beyond through our Lord Jesus Christ. Shalom.
PRAYER.
Our loving and everlasting Father, help us appreciate the truth that Your will is an expression of Your love and Your act of redemption for lost humanity through Your son Jesus Christ. Let Your word revive us to completely surrender our lives to Jesus so that Your perfect will shall be done in our lives. Amen
