REFLECTION

On earth is the theme for our reflection. Earth is the dwelling place of human beings and other living creatures. It is one of God’s beautiful creations and gifts to humanity. We have been exploring the theme ” lYour will be done” since we commenced the week. Today, we are looking at doing God’s will on earth as believers.

Dear friend, after God had established His will in our lives salvation in Jesus Christ, we are to do His will on earth by allowing the Holy Spirit to unite us through a common fellowship known as the Church. The early Christians or Church understood the essence of doing God’s will on earth through the fellowship of all believers. It was for this reason Luke reported that “And all who believed were together and had all things in common…And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favour with all the people. (Act 2:44,46-47a) Beloved in the Lord, we have one fundamental calling, and that is to dedicate our lives to doing the will of God on earth through the fellowship of all believers and living a praiseworthy life that pleases God. Paul reminds us of this calling when he wrote that “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2). Let us not perceive the church as a mere social group and our church services as mere social events but do our best to do God’s will as written in His Word even as we remain united as disciples of Jesus Christ through the power and fellowship of the Holy Spirit in the Church. May the Lord enlighten us through the lent season to understand His will and do that which pleases Him as individuals and a Church in fulfillment of our calling and His will on earth.

PRAY

Dear Lord, empower us to fulfill our calling by doing your will all the days of our lives on earth. Amen.
