REFLECTION
As in heaven is the theme for our reflection. Heaven is regarded as the dwelling place of God and other celestial beings and the final destination of those who are saved. In our earlier reflections on the will of God, we have established the fact that God’s will is His gift of salvation through His son Jesus Christ to humanity. Isaiah paints a beautiful and hopeful picture of God’s will of creating an eternal and joyous life for all people who are saved in His name. God’s will is to make all those who come to Him in faith experience a glimpse of the heavenly life even as we prepare for His final day of salvation which will usher us into Heaven. Isaiah spoke to give hope to the Israelites in their afflictions, “On this mountain, he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” (Isaiah 25:7-9)
Dear friend, God’s will for us is to experience His salvation and grace on earth as it is in heaven. It is our responsibility to avail ourselves through repentance, faith and obedience to His Word even as we await the final coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We may currently be experiencing hardship, temptations and challenging moments in our lives but let us remain focused on the will of God for life. Again, we must remember that so long as we remain faithful to God, His will shall be done in our lives as it is in Heaven. He will never forsake us in our afflictions but will reward our faith and steadfastness. John in the book of Revelations, confirms Isaiah’s prophesy that God’s will shall be fulfilled in the lives of believers as it is in Heaven when he wrote that “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:1-5). May the Lent season enable us to remain prepared for God’s will to be done in our lives as it is in Heaven. Shalom.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, grant us the strength to withstand and endure all the afflictions and challenges of a believer on earth so that the Lord will find us worthy of experiencing His will as it is in Heaven. Amen.
