REFLECTION

“From bad to worse, then glorious” is the theme for our reflection. From bad to worse, then glorious means that before the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, there will be a great tribulation but God’s people shall be redeemed and they shall experience the glory of the Lord at the end of the great tribulation. Jesus said “For then there will be great distress, unequalled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equalled again. “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.“(Matthew 24:21-22)

Dear friend, the coming of the great tribulation, is not hidden from us believers. We must remain prepared and faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ through the help of the Holy Spirit, then, we shall experience the glory of the Lord. Jesus admonishes us to be vigilant or watchful so that we are not misled by the antichrist and his agents. “At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time.” (Matthew 24:23-25). How do we know the difference between the antichrist and his fake prophets and Christ and His true prophets? Beloved in the Lord, we must be consistent with our study of the Word of God and prayer so that we shall gain the spirit of discernment and be granted revelation to know the truth through the power of the Holy Spirit. Again Paul warns us through his letter to Timothy that “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) …mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5). It is for this reason Jesus teaches us to live by His Word, “The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” (John 6:63). Let us continue to study His Word then the “the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26) We shall overcome the bad to worse tribulation because Jesus assures us that “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) We the children of God, therefore, are part of His elect, if we follow the teaching or the Word of God no tribulation or suffering, “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) Shalom.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, strengthen us through our faith and the Word of God to endure the great tribulation to the end so that we shall experience the final and everlasting glory of the Lord. Amen.
