REFLECTION

God revealed in everyone. God is revealed in everyone that has a relationship with Jesus. In other words, by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, He becomes part of our lives and we become the children of God. It is, for this reason, Jesus said “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.” (Matthew 10:40). John further explains that “This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God (1 John 4:13-15) In other words, God is revealed in us when we invite Jesus to become the Lord and Shepherd of our lives through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Dear friend in the Lord, If God is revealed in us then we must be in fellowship and good relationship with our fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord since God is also revealed in them. We must always be ready to be hospitable and caring for them when we meet them or when they come to us. The source of this love is Christ because He has said that “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35). In other words, God is revealed in us when we demonstrate Jesus’ unconditional love to all who come our way, including His servants. Jesus assured us that we shall be rewarded if we allow God to be revealed in us through the love we demonstrate to others.“Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” (Matthew 10:41-42) Again, we must demonstrate to strangers or people who are not even believers that God is revealed in us by being loving and hospitable to them. John admonishes us that “…we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. (1 John 4:16). In other words, God is not revealed in us if His love is not found in us.

Many people think that the only way God is revealed in us is through the manifestation of the gift of the Holy Spirit. Beloved in the Lord, inasmuch as it is true that the manifestation or gift of the Holy Spirit is to prove that the glory of God is in the Church and for the edification and growth of the Church, it is important to mentions that it must be motivated by love and not as a matter of public display. The people around us must first experience the glory of God or His presence in us through the demonstration of His love in all that we do. Paul further explains this fact when he said that “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing…And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3,13). God ultimately revealed Himself to us through His love in Christ (John 3:16). It is this love that gave us access to the empowerment of the Spirit, therefore, God’s love must lead us as a way of manifesting His presence in our lives in all our endeavours and interaction with the world. Shalom.

PRAYER

Dear God, continually reveal and manifest Your love and glory in us through our Lord Jesus Christ so that many will know You and be saved. Amen
