REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. A King is a male ruler of a country who usually inherits his position and rules for life. Lord on the other hand means a person possessing authority, power, and control over his property. In a geographical location, there could be one King but many Lords who may not necessarily be connected to the royal family. Lords are noble and affluent persons who have prestigious positions in the public domain. They own lands, properties, and slaves and command authority within their social circle and homes but Kings are more powerful than lords. A King may also be called a Lord because of the nature of authority He has over His subjects. John in His vision saw Christ revealed as the victorious and omnipotent King and Lord. “Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. (Revelation 19:15-16)

Beloved in the Lord, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords who is Jesus Christ shall return to defeat the antichrist and his agents and liberate God’s faithful servants. “the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.” (Revelation 19:20-21) This is a great encouragement and hope for believers. No condition is permanent, we may go through torment and suffering in the hands of the beast but we are encouraged to endure to the end, for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords shall defeat all our adversaries. We are reminded that these were figurative language at the time used by John to encourage believers in their suffering and also to remind them of the sovereignty and reign of God over the universe. Again these words are for us the current generation of believers to be encouraged that we must hold on to our faith in Jesus, for a time is coming when He will return to judge the world as the much anticipated “King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Even before John’s Revelation, Jesus himself had assured us that “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. John 5:25-29. Dear friend in Christ let us not give up but remain faithful to the end so that we shall receive the victorious crown of righteousness and eternal life from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Shalom.

PRAYER

King of King and Lord of Lords, we completely surrender our lives into your hands to serve you all the days of our lives. Deliver us from the hands of the beast and our adversaries and grant us victory even before that glorious day of Your coming. Amen.
