REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is the one who comes to resolve. To resolve means to find a solution to a problem or a challenge. Jesus is the one who comes to resolve or liberate believers who shall be persecuted on account of their faith. The book of Revelation employs metaphysical imagery in revealing God’s future plans to believers and ultimately assur them of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ who comes to resolve and reward believers who have been faithful to the end through persecution and perseverance.
In Revelation chapter 4, the focus is on the description of some heavenly beings and some living creatures not in the form of human beings. Their role is to worship the name of the Lord. These living creatures together with the twenty-four elders worshipped the Lord endlessly. They declare Jesus as the omnipotent and everlasting Lord who sits on the throne and is to come. “And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4:8-11)
The key lesson for our reflection is that we must endure persecution and suffering a little longer, for the one who comes to resolve our challenges sits on the throne and will surely come in His glory and power. Jesus will not only come to resolve our temporary and earthly suffering but most importantly fulfil His promise of making us co-heirs of the Kingdom of God where we shall join other celestial beings to continually worship God in His full splendour and glory. Let us not miss this everlasting honour and opportunity when Jesus returns the second and final time. Dear friend, let us worship God in all sincerity while we are still alive on earth. Let us love and serve Him with all our heart, mind and might and glorify Him with our life as a living sacrifice, for He shall come to resolve our challenges, save and transform us to appear before God in holiness to forever worship Him. Shalom.
PRAYER
Merciful Lord, may You find us worthy to be part of the chosen ones at Your throne so that together we shall endlessly bow before Your throne in worship and glorify Your Holy name. Amen.
