The theme for our reflection is “worthy is the lamb.” Before, the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, a lamb, was usually used for the sacrifice of Passover and atonement for sins. John the Baptist revealed to us when “he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Jesus has now become the only worthy Lamb through which God accepts anyone who comes to Him through repentance, regeneration and baptism.
Jesus Christ is at the center of our faith and salvation as a new world of believers drawn from different tribes and nations. It is for this reason “…the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb… sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:8-10). Again, Hebrews tells us that Jesus is the worthy Lamb because His “… sprinkled blood speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.” (Hebrews 12:24) Dear friend, through the blood of Christ, people from every tribe and language and nation have become united in the Kingdom of God. If we understand that we are now saved and united through the blood of the Lamb then we must live at peace with everyone and work towards justice and dignity of all human beings regardless of their ethnic group, race and class. Jesus Christ, the sacrificial Lamb has not only saved us but has also taken away all barriers that divide us in the world. Jesus will share His Kingdom and reign with and through us if we are truly saved through Him and believe in Him as the worthy Lamb in our lives who deserves our devotion, obedience and worship. Shalom.
PRAYER
Thank you Jesus for saving us by offering Yourself as the sacrificial and worthy Lamb that takes away the sin of the world. May we eschew all divise barriers and remain united as one big heavenly family. Let the Holy Spirit sustain our new heavenly status even as we await Your final appearing. Amen.
