LIGHT THROUGH THE SON (JOHN 5:16-27)
The theme for our reflection is “Light through the Son” A person is described as a light when he or she signifies positivity, guidance, inspiration and hope in the life of others. We shall underscore the fact that we experience the Light of hope and salvation through Jesus, the Son of God.
Beloved in the Lord, the light of hope and salvation is found in Jesus because anyone who encounters Jesus with faith and humility, experiences physical, spiritual and eternal transformation. Jesus is our light of hope and salvation because He makes us understand that, “For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will…Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:20-21,24) In other words, although we have never seen God, we experience Him through His Son. For Jesus said, ““…All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:16). Jesus, remains the vessel through which we encounter God as the light of hope and salvation in the world. Unlike the unbelieving Jews who failed to see the light through the Son, we have seen the light through the Son through repentance, faith and regeneration. We must continue to walking in His light even as we prepare to be ushered into the eternal life. If we reject the Son then we no longer have the light of salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17). Let those who are in the darkness come to the light and let those who have seen the light continue to walk in the light.
In summary, we have reflected on the theme “Light through the Son” We have discovered that we experience the Light of hope and salvation through Jesus, the Son of God. Shalom.
PRAYER
Thank you Jesus for shining Your light of hope and salvation onto us when we were lost and dead to sin. May the Holy Spirit strengthen us to live in the light we have seen through Jesus Christ through total humility and obedience to His Word. Amen
