THE WILL OF THE FATHER (JOHN 6:35-40)

REFLECTION

The will of the Father is the theme for our reflection. The will of the Father is the decision and the act of God to save us through Jesus Christ, His son. We shall consider the fact that our salvation or redemption through Jesus Christ is the will of the Father.

Dear friend in Christ, it is important for us to know that it is impossible for God’s will to be done in our lives without we accepting and believing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. It is for this reason, Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. (John 6:35-36) Again, John 3:16-17 summarised the truth that the will of the Father is made complete in our lives through Jesus when John wrote,“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” We have another opportunity to have the will of the Father done in our lives today by surrendering our lives completely to Jesus through repentance and faith so that through Him we shall become the children of God. Again, Paul reminds us of the will of the Father through His letter to the Galatians when he wrote “… in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27).

In addition, my dear friend in the Lord, it is the will of the father for us to be saved through Jesus Christ, It is for this reason, Jesus revealed to us, “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:38-40). The coming of Jesus into the world is only a fulfilment of God’s promise and will in the life of those who have a covenant relationship with Him. We see this promise and will clearly stated in Jeremiah when He said to the Israelites, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) In Jesus, we experience the full manifestation of God’s plan of prosperity and salvation both materially and spiritual. In invite you today to allow Jesus to reign over your life so that the will of the Father shall be done in your live.

In conclusion, we have been greatly reminded that our salvation or redemption through Jesus Christ is the will of the Father. May the will of the Father be done in our lives today through our Lord Jesus Christ. Shalom.

PRAYER.

Our loving and everlasting Father, help us appreciate the truth that Your will is an expression of Your love and Your act of redemption for lost humanity through Your son Jesus Christ. Let Your Word revive us to completely to surrender our lives to Jesus so that Your perfect will shall be done in our lives. Amen
