SCRIPTURE READINGS
DANIEL 7:9-10,13-14
REVELATION 1:4-8 
JOHN 18:33-37 

The theme for our reflection is “Be faithful to the end.” To be faithful means to remain loyal and steadfast. The focus of today’s theme is on a believer’s loyalty and steadfastness to God until the day of his or her death. We shall consider the following points in discussing the theme.  

1. We must be faithful to the end because the world is not our permanent home. 
2. Those who are faithful to the end are counted as worthy servants who deserve the promised reward.

 Firstly, as we live our lives as believers and servants of the Lord, we must be heaven conscious for this world is not our home. We must be faithful to the end because we are dual citizens. We are temporary citizens of earth and permanent citizens of the kingdom of God.  Faithful servants always focused on their Kingdom citizenship when faced with tribulations or persecutions. It is for this reason Jesus said to Pilate “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” (John 18:36). Daniel revealed to us the this Kingdom Jesus’ everlasting dominion when he wrote, “He(Jesus) was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshipped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kindgom is one that will never be destroyed” ( Daniel 7:14) Paul further reminds us in Philippians 3:18-21 that “For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body”  We are assured as faithful servants in Hebrews 13:14 that “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.”  My dear friend whatever challenge you are facing as a Christian or a believer of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, always remain faithful to the end for “… in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13) 

Secondly, we must be faithful till the end because Jesus will return to reward His faithful servants. The greatest promise which shall be fulfilled by Jesus to those who shall remain faithful to the end is His salvation and glory. It is, for this reason, we are assured in Revelation 1:5-6 that “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father —to him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen. (Revelation 1:5-6). Jesus will surely fulfil this promise to those who have been faithful to the end because He has assured has through the book of Revelation that “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8). If we have the assurance of the reward of salvation and eternal life then we must continually remain faithful to the end and continue to share the Gospel so that the lost will be saved, for Jesus said: “…In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (John 18:37).  We must faithfully continue to testify to the truth to the end so that we can say with Paul that “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day —and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8) 

In conclusion beloved in the Lord, we must be faithful to the end because the world is not our permanent home, and those who are faithful to the end are counted as worthy servants and are rewarded. May the Holy Spirit empower us to remain faithful to the end. Amen
