RENEWING POWER, STAYING POWER (COLOSSIANS 1 :20-23)

REFLECTIONS

Renewing power, staying power is the theme for our reflection. To renew means to restore or rejuvenate. To stay means to continue to remain a certain condition. Power means the ability to act or produce an effect. Renewing power, staying power is the ability to restore and maintain someone in a particular condition. We shall reflect on the fact that Jesus has the power to renew our relationship with God and also enable us to stay in constant relationship with God.

Beloved in the Lord, Jesus is the source of our spiritual renewal and sustenance. Paul testified to this fact when he wrote, “And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,” (Colossians 1:21-22) Dear friend, to experience renewal or for renewal to stay in constant in our lives, we must endeavour to obey and reflect the perfect image of Jesus Christ through the help of the Holy Spirit. In deed, Jesus is the “the founder and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). In Him God pleased, and we are justified and reconciled to God. We must remain spiritually renewed my listening to Paul’ admonishment when he wrote “…continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.(Colossians 1:23). In other words, it is impossible to remain spiritually renewed without constantly feeding on the Word of God. We must resolve stay or sustain our renewal by owning a Bible, reading it daily, joining other believers during morning devotions to study the Word daily, and go through the day reflecting on the Word of God while applying it in our lives.

In summary, we have learned that Jesus has the power to renew our relationship with God and also enable us to stay in constant relationship with Him. Shalom
