GOD NEVER FAILS (LUKE 22:31-38)
REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is God never fails. God never fails means that God never fails in exposing our true intentions or thoughts. We shall reflect on the fact that God knows our true intentions or thoughts therefore we must be faithful to our calling as disciples.
Beloved in the Lord, God knows our hearts and true intentions therefore we must be faithful to our calling and live a life of integrity by walking the talk. Peter purported to demonstrate his faithfulness and loyalty to Jesus in times of suffering to the point of death when assured Jesus ““Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” (Luke 22:33) However, Jesus being God, knew Peter’s true intention Jesus answered him, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.” Luke 22:34). Beloved in the Lord, irrespective of who you are, God knows your true colours or intentions. The Psalmist confirmed this fact in Psalm 139 when he wrote “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.” (Psalms 139:1-4)
We lose our integrity or we become hypocrites when we say one thing and do the other. Most of us in our prayers make solemn promises or vows we know in our hearts we will not fulfil when the time comes. We are not different from Peter who who made a promise he knew he could not fulfill or keep. As a Christian spouse, have you faithfully kept the vows you made to your spouse on your wedding day? Are we known for walking the talk In relationships and dealings with people? Can our friends and family members trust us? Can you be trusted as a leader, a father, a mother, a sibling and a friend? Are you known for your integrity or hypocrisy? Beloved in the Lord, we need God’s empowerment to be able to live a life of integrity. We need the Holy Spirit to strengthen us to be loyal to God by saying what we mean and meaning what we say. It is for this reason the Psalmist prayed “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalms 19:14).
In summary, we have discovered that God knows our true intentions or thoughts therefore we must be loyal and faithful to our calling as disciples.
PRAYER
May the Holy Spirit direct our thoughts and intentions according to the will of God. Amen.
