REFLECTION
“By Faith” is the theme for our reflection. Faith is defined in Hebrews 11:1, “faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1) We shall reflect on the fact that faith is like the WIFI and radio waves that enable us to experience God.
Beloved in the Lord, have you ever wondered how your phone or computer connects to the internet? Have you ever wondered how phones work? Technology is a gift from God to humanity, and through this gift, we have been able to utilise radio waves and WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) to strengthen human communication. All you need is a device equipped with these technologies, and you can reach anyone and anywhere in the world. Similarly, God has given us a special communication device, which is the spiritual equivalent of radio frequency and WiFi. Our Spiritual radio frequency or WiFi is Faith. Just as our phones need a radio frequency or WiFi to be useful, we also need Faith to make our lives meaningful. It is for this reason that the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 11 cited many examples of people who had faith and, as a result, experienced God. The impossible became possible through faith. Just as without a radio frequency and WiFi we cannot use our phones, we are told “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) We are expected to broaden and deepen our faith through the study of the Scripture and keep our faith active through prayer. Faith dwindles if we lack the Word of God and are inconsistent in our prayer lives. When we are prayerful and consistent with Bible Study, our faith is kept active in a world filled with disappointment, evil, temptations and doubts. With consistency in our faith we can walk with God through water and fire and say with Job that “I know that my redeemer lives…” (Job 19:25) and we can also say with David that “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; (Psalms 23:4) Again Jeremiah reminds us of the important of living by Faith when he said ““But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8). Just as we carry our phone everywhere we go, I challenge you to carry your faith everywhere you go. Your phone may be stolen or you may be robbed, but your faith is a priceless and intangible gift from God that can never be taken away from you. Start with faith, continue with faith and end with faith for “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
In summary, we have discovered that faith is like the WiFi and radio waves that enable us to experience God. Nourish your faith with the Word of God and keep it active through prayer, and you shall always experience the glory of God, shalom.
PRAYER
May the Holy Spirit strengthen our faith. Amen.
