REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is “Revealing God’s glory” The glory of God is the manifestation of His presence and power. We shall reflect on the fact that we reveal God’s glory when we have an encounter with Jesus through the hearing of the Gospel.

Beloved in the Lord, in 2 Corinthians 4:1-6, Paul emphasises that because of God’s mercy, believers have been given a ministry of revealing the glory of God in Christ, which is the light of the gospel. He urges them not to lose heart, even in the face of opposition or hardship, because God, who created light, has shone His light in their hearts. We also radiate the glory of God or the light of the Gospel when we preach it to others. It is for this reason that Jesus said to the disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16) Again, Paul greatly admonished Timothy to preach the Gospel or keep revealing the Glory of God, irrespective of the challenges he may encounter. Paul wrote, “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage —with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” (2 Timothy 4:2-5) We also have the same mandate today according to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that Jesus has taught us. “ It is the core business of the church and every believer to radiate the light of the Gospel or God’s glory in the world. We must endeavour to make Jesus the centre of our conversation when we meet people. The world can experience the glory of God in us only when we are determined to fulfil the Great Commission of revealing the glory of God or the light of the Gospel to as many who are willing to listen to us and be transformed.

In summary, we have discovered that we reveal God’s glory when we have an encounter with Jesus through the hearing of the Gospel and the preaching of the Gospel.

PRAYER

May the Holy Spirit empower us to radiate the glory of God through the preaching of the Gospel. Amen.
