REFLECTION
Jesus rescues the disciples from being destroyed by a violent storm on the sea and enables Peter to walk on water. To walk on water is a humanly impossible activity, but in Matthew 19:26, “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” The life we live is like the sea, full of storms; it takes faith to walk with Jesus on the sea of life. Remember that as we walk with Jesus, there will be storms in the form of challenges which are life-threatening in some cases. Like Peter and the other disciples, we may be overwhelmed with fear when we encounter the storms of life and as a result, our faith may dwindle. Our faith and hope are rekindled by the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 14:27 when He said to the disciples on the sea. “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
My beloved friend, some of you may be going through storms of challenges in your marriage relationship, unemployment may be the storm wrecking your boat, some of you may have experienced betrayal from people you love and trust, and due to these disappointments from friends and family, hope seems to be lost while fear and loneliness embrace you. In the same manner, others are battling poverty and diseases. In all these circumstances, we are assured of Jesus’ presence on the sea of life. This is evident in Matthew 28:20 when Jesus said, “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Let’s be encouraged in our walk of faith with Jesus. We are never alone. In His own time, He makes everything beautiful and glorifies Himself. Romans 8:28 reassures us that “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Amen.
