REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is shouting stones. Stones are not living things therefore it is impossible for stones to shout yet when the disciples were saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” (Luke 19:38-40)
Dear friend in the Lord, the Kingship of Jesus or His Lordship is not limited to only human beings and for that matter the Jews. He is Lord of both the living and non-living therefore if human beings will not praise Him, other creations such as stones will praise and acknowledge His Lordship. John 1:3 reveals to us that “through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1:3) The stones were also made through our Lord and Master Jesus Christ therefore they owe Him shouts of praise. Again, the psalmist acknowledged that other creations that were not living things could also praise the Lord, “Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for at his command they were created” (Psalms 148:3-5)
There are two important lessons in today’s reflection. Firstly, all creations are under the reign of our Lord Jesus Christ and as such must praise Him, and secondly, no human authority can limit the reign and Kingship of the Lord, if human beings fail to worship or praise Him, the non-living will continue to worship Him. “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27). It is important to note that God has purposely designed and created us in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-28) and more importantly, He has given us eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16) so that we will live to praise and worship Him all the days of our lives through our actions and speech, if we fail to do this then the Lord will replace us with shouting stones! (Luke 1938-40). Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, may we continually derive fulfilment, peace and blessings from praising and worshipping you all the days of our lives. Amen
