REFLECTIONS
Standing tall is the theme for our reflection. To stand tall means to be brave, proud or confident. Jesus reveals the destruction of Jerusalem and the tribulation of His faithful believers but most importantly, He assures them that during their persecution “…I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.” (Luke 21:15) Again, Jesus made known the nature of His second coming and assures His faithful believers and disciples who will be victims of persecutions or tribulations that “…they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”(Luke 21:27-28)
Dear friend in the Lord, history tells us that in 70 A.D Jesus’ revelation about the siege and destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman empire led by Emperor Titus came to pass, although many Christians fled to safer grounds. There were also periods in history where Christians were persecuted on account of their faith in the Lord. Jesus used these events to forewarn His discciples and believers; and by extension, we the current generation of believers of His second coming which will take place after the great catastrophic events. What then should be our response as believers when these things happen? The most important response from believers is not to give up and hide in fear but to stand tall and anticipate our glorious redemption from this evil world which the Lord will destroy and judge.
It is important to note that to remain prepared and be able to stand tall to meet the Lord on His day, we must “…take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. (Ephesians 6:13-18). Dear friend, how prepared are you for the second coming of the Lord? Can you stand tall before Him? Are you in your full armor of God? If you reading this reflection, then the Lord has graciously given you another chance and life. I humbly ask you to invite Jesus into your life if you have not done that yet, renew your relationship with Him and commit your whole life as a living sacrifice to the Lord. Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Holy Spirit, strengthen us to be ever ready for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and may we be found in the whole armor of God, standing tall to be welcomed into His eternal glory.
