REFLECTION

The theme for our reflection is “Faithful Few” A faithful few refers to a small group of people who are steadfast, loyal, and unwavering in their commitment to a course. We shall reflect on the fact that we must endeavour to be part of the faithful few who will respond to the call of God and dedicate our lives to His service and be saved.

Beloved in the Lord, let us always be attentive to the call of God and respond with humility and dedication even when many are unwilling to respond. In 2 Chronicles 30:1-12, King Hezekiah of Judah extends an invitation to all of Israel and Judah to celebrate a unified Passover in Jerusalem. Due to a lack of consecrated priests and assembled people, the celebration is postponed to the second month. Messengers are sent to spread the word, urging the Israelites to return to the Lord and offering hope that God will return to the remnant that escaped Assyria. Despite mockery from many in the north, some individuals from Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humble themselves and journey to Jerusalem.  It is important to note that they were being called for their own salvation, but many turned down the call. We are being encouraged today to endeavour to be part of the faithful few who will respond to the call of the Lord, especially in our time of greed, disobedience and materialism. Hezekiah is calling on us, “Do not be stiff-necked, as your ancestors were; submit to the LORD. Come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the LORD your God, so that his fierce anger will turn away from you. 2 Chronicles 30:8

Dear friend in Christ, we are greatly admonished by our Lord and Master Jesus when He said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21) Let us yearn to faithfully serve God at all time so that we shall be of the chosen among the many for Jesus again said, “For many are invited, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14) Paul offers us an encouragement on how we can remain the faithful few when he wrote “I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2) Beloved in the Lord be the faithful few in your family, church, and society who are willing to do God’s will. Be part of the faithful few who won’t miss Bible study and prayer programmes. Be part of the faithful few who are willing to participate and support in evangelistic activities to win souls for Christ. Be part of the faithful few who are willing to bear the cost of discipleship. Be part of the faithful few who will not follow by the standards of the world but are ready to follow the Biblical standards in living a life of integrity in our marriages, commerce and all spheres of our lives.

In summary, we have discovered that we must endeavour to be part of the faithful few who will respond to the call of God and dedicate our lives to His service and be saved.

PRAYER

May the Holy Spirit strengthen us to be part of the faithful few all the time. Amen.
