Judgement against fake prophets, misleading shepherds (leaders) and their followers.
REFLECTION
Strong in meltdown is the theme for our reflection. Meltdown is a disastrous collapse or breakdown. The Prophet Zechariah cautions fake prophets, their followers and idol worshippers concerning a meltdown that will be caused by God (Zechariah 13:2-8). However, “On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem (God’s people), to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.” (Zechariah 13:1)
A classic example of a meltdown is the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. In a meltdown, two categories of people are identified. The first category of people is the weak in faith and disobedient people and the second category of people is the strong in faith and obedient people.
The two categories of people during the meltdown are identified by Zechariah when he said that “In the whole land, declares the LORD, two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive. And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people; and they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’” (Zechariah 13:8-9) In other words, those who are found to be disobedient and unrepentant leaders shall be destroyed together with their followers, unfortunately, this group form the majority (two thirds). On the other hand, the minority who are the faithful and obedient people of God shall be made strong during the meltdown or destruction, “…they shall be my people and they will say, the Lord is my God” (Zechariah 13:9). Beloved in the Lord, which group of people do you belong to? Are part of the unfortunate majority or the fortunate minority? Your relationship with God and faith in Jesus is the only way to guarantee your inclusion among those who shall be made strong during the meltdown.
My dear friend your faith in God and obedience to His Word in a perverse generation shall not be in vain. Persevere and be faithful to the end for the Lord’s people shall be saved and made strong during the meltdown Let us be reminded that the second coming of Jesus marks the final meltdown. Shalom
PRAYER
Merciful God, strengthen us to remain loyal and steadfast in obedience to your Word and will so that on the day of the meltdown, we shall be found to be your good and faithful people who will proclaim to the world that “the Lord is our God” Amen.
