REFLECTION

And it rained is theme for our reflection. Rain is the condensed moisture of the atmosphere falling visibly in separate drops. Rain is important because it provides and augment out water resources for both domestic, industrial and Agricultural activities. Indeed, living things and plants will  adversely be affected without rain.

Regardless of the benefit of rain, rain when it drops in excess of the amount needed can cause havoc or destruction of life and property. Rain can therefore become a blessing in domestic, Industrial and Agricultural use but at the same time a curse when it causes floods. During the time of Noah, the sin of humanity made God destroy the world with rain (Genesis 7:20-24). It is interesting to note that aquatic life was not mentioned among the living things that perished, certainly a fish can not be killed by excess water unless it is polluted. It safe, to say that the land was cursed together with its inhabitant hence their destruction by the rain after a few had been selected and preserved in Noah’s ark by God’s plan and purposes.

The key lesson in our reflection is that, our sins or actions and inactions can cause that which ought to be a blessings to become a curse. In our modern world, human activities has caused climate change. This has adversely affected us in a number of ways, for instance, rain which ought to be a blessings has rather caused flooding that has destroyed human life and property. Elsewhere, the rain has totally been denied people causing drought, famine and poverty. We need to repent and begin to act responsibly towards nature and the environment then we shall experience God’s forgiveness and the healing and blessing of our world. Shalom.

PRAYER

Merciful God, forgive us our sins and revive us so that our actions and inaction will not cause that which ought to be a blessing to become a curse upon us. Amen.
