LENT REFLECTION (DAY 2)
Today, it is coming true is the theme for our reflection. The phrase “it is coming true” means something that has become real or happened in a way that one wished or dreamed. Isaiah 61:1-3 was the prophecy of God sending an anointed Messiah to redeem His people from bandage and oppression.
Jesus is the promised and anointed Messiah sent by God to save the world hence He read from the scroll of Isaiah to assure and declare to the people that prophecy has been fulfilled through Him because “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”(Luke 4:18-21)
For some people, that day never came true because they did not believe Jesus was the anointed Messiah even after all the mighty things God did through Him in proclaiming the good news, liberating people from the oppression of evil spirits, recovering of sight to the physically and spiritually blind, resurrection of the dead and hope to the outcasts and hopeless sinners. Dear friend, with Jesus in our lives, our salvation has come true because we accepted Him as our only Lord and Saviour. Without Christ our day of salvation will not come true, it is for this reason Jesus told Zacchaeus that “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”(Luke 19:9-10) Everywhere Jesus went people who yearned to follow Him and believed in Him experienced the coming true of their much anticipated redemption, restoration and salvation. Lent season is the period of deepening our faith in God to experience the manifestation of His presence in our lives so that our lives will continually reflect His glory. Shalom
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, may your Good News and power of redemption and Salvation come true in the lives of those who are still in the bondage of sin. Amen.
