REFLECTION
An End to war wounds is the theme for our reflection. War wounds are injuries suffered as a result of war. The only way way war wounds will end is when there is peace and the only way peace can be established in the world is when all nations allow God to reign supreme. The Prophet Micah paints a picture of hope that salvation and peace will come from Jerusalem but it will be for the benefit of all nations. In other words, God will be established through the nation Isreal for all nations. “It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and it shall be lifted up above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it, and many nations shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” (Michah 4:1-2)
Dear friend, Christ established the New Jerusalem which is now the Church. The Church is a fellowship of people from all nations who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour. It is impossible for people from different countries, ethnic and racial backgrounds to serve one God, read one Bible and yet sustain war wounds because of conflict among them. It is a clear indication that we do not understand the will of God although we profess to be Christians. There must be an end to war wounds if we serve one God and obey His Word by doing His will. In Christ there is respect for human dignity. We cannot worship God and be the disciples of Christ but have love, peace and justice missing from our fellowship. The Church is the hope of the world through which, “He (God) shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide disputes for strong nations far away; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore; but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid, for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.” (Micah 4:3-4). It is our mission as disciples of Christ to preach and practice love, peace and justice even as we make disciples of all nations. It is our hope that as more and more people from different nations become disciples of Christ, God will reign supreme in our mutual affairs and there will be and end of war wounds. Shalom.
PRAYER
Merciful God, let Your will and peace prevail over the world so that love may abound wherever there is conflict, putting an end to war wounds. Amen.
