REFLECTION
The theme for our reflection is death. Death is the end of life of person or an organism. Sarah, the wife of Abraham died. “Sarah lived 127 years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. And Sarah died at Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.” (Genesis 23:1-3) Sarah died at a ripe age of 127 yet Abraham felt the loss and wept for her. Everyone we are connected to especially family become part of us and any time death happens we lose a part of us. We never remain the same although we have the hope that one day we shall reunite with them on the day of resurrection.
The reality of death must ultimately lead us to two important conclusions or facts. Firstly, death reminds us that we have limited time on earth therefore we must love one another and give the best of our love, resources and time to the people connected to us before death separate us from them. Secondly, death reminds us that we must fear God, repent and serve Him with our very lives for a day will come when we shall stand before Him to render account for all that we have done on earth. We must live for His glory alone. We see the manifestation of the above facts in the lives of Abraham and Sarah, they truly cared and loved each other and also served God and remained faithful to Him until their demise. This is the essence of a fulfilled and a purpose driven life. Shalom.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, may we remain humbled by the lessons death teaches us even as we live to love one another and also live for your glory. Amen.
